The Turn of the Screw by Henry James is a «ghost story» set in the IXX century. Douglas tells a group of friends the story of a young governess, who travels in a large villa in the countryside of London, specifically in Bly, to educate two children, Miles and Flora, who live with his uncle after his parents died and Mrs. Grose with them and all the servants. Unfortunately his uncle must often be away and for many days, this explains the reason of the assumption of the teacher, who should not have to disturb the gentleman for no reason but rather attend to all the chores alone.

Best catagorized as a historical romance because it is the story of a love that grows between the two main characters and actual historical characters and events are included, yet, the book is far more that that simplistic identification. To read it is to never forget.
